James Chapin
James has been walking for just about as long as he can remember, with many of his earlier steps taken right here in Volusia County where he was raised. Paths took him far afield but he has since returned, and now lives in DeLand with his wife and two children. He's a freelance writer and the author of a novel titled Ride South Until the Sawgrass set during the Florida frontier era. He also works as a wildlife biologist, and has served on the Community Board for the DeLand Museum of Art.

Jeff is a retired mapper, with 33 years of service at the Florida Department of Transportation. He has served on numerous boards and committees including the Volusia-Flagler Transportation Planning Organization (TPO) Bike/Ped committee, the DeLand Planning Board, Volusia County Democratic Executive Committee, DeLand Police Athletic League, and the St. Johns River to Sea Loop Alliance.
Jeff and his wife are partners and property managers at Conrad Realty Co., which includes Artisan Alley.
At-large board member
August Maulfair
August found their way to walkability through food — specifically, the truth that SNAP benefits are only as useful as the grocery store is accessible. As Executive Director of SNAP Volusia and Senior Manager of State Advocacy at the national nonprofit Student Basic Needs Coalition, they've spent years working to make sure community members can access the public benefits they've earned. A DeLand local, Stetson University alum, and AmeriCorps VISTA alum, they are currently enrolled in UCF's Master of Public Administration program, and brings a policy advocate's eye and a community organizer's instincts to the board.
